Low Fat Apple Cider Granita Recipe
Ingredients 4 cups fresh apple cider 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup calvados -- or other apple brandy 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice Method 1.Put a shallow metal pan in the freezer to chill. In a bowl, combine cider, sugar, Calvados and lemon juice. Stir until the sugar dissolves. 2.Pour the mixture into the chilled pan and place in the freezer. Every 30 minutes, stir with a fork, crushing any lumps, until the granita is firm but not frozen solid, about 3 hours. (The granita can be made 2 days in advance: freeze and transfer to a covered container. Before serving, stir to break up large crystals.) 3.To serve, scoop into chilled bowls or goblets. Makes about 8 cups, for 8 servings. 100 calories per serving: 0 grams protein, 0 grams fat, 21 grams carbohydrate; 5 mg sodium; 0 mg cholesterol; 0 grams fiber; 3 grams alcohol.
